MANILA, Philippines – Manila Water piloted the first microtunneling technology project in Mandaluyong City for the construction of the Mandaluyong West Sewer Network Package 1.

The project is part of the P785 million Mandaluyong West, San Juan South and Quezon City South Sewerage System that includes the Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) complemented by a combined sewer network, which will cater to households in the cities of Mandaluyong and San Juan and a part of Quezon City.

This will serve as the influent line that will collect the wastewater from Mandaluyong City households going to the Aglipay STP.

Manila Water Wastewater Headline Project Manager Joyce General said that Package 1 is targeted to be completed by December 2023. “This will benefit nine (9) barangays in Mandaluyong City, namely, Brgy. The Mandaluyong West Sewer Network Package 1 aims to collect wastewater from the city’s drainage system through a combined sewer interceptor system to the Aglipay STP to ensure standard treatment before discharge to the Pasig River. Currently, it has ongoing works on cutting and breaking of concrete along F. Blumentritt for water relocation and tunneling works.
